Description

In the first image, ‘delaying gratification’, the ‘big purple’ chocolate appears to be screwed onto the wooden bowl. It is surrounded by spent chocolate wrappers. The meaning here is fairly literal; the joy of eating this famous confectionery item has been delayed by it being physically attached to something large and inedible. The benefits of ‘saving something important for later’ appear to have been forced on the consumer. In the second image, a wooden spoon has been impossibly bent out of shape and is resting in what might be described as a reliquary. In creating this work, I had the mysterious metal spoon-bending abilities of Yuri Geller in mind and how they might or might not be transferred to a wooden utensil. The qualities of wood seem unnatural to the pliable and bendable characteristics of metal which makes this spoon appear as a curio from a magical sect.

The third photo draws on an experience common to some men of a certain age, that of impotence. Objects in the foreground are suggestive of severance while a vibrator looming in the background implies an arguably less efficacious alternative to a penis. The fourth image shows a large bowl, filled with sand at the centre of which is a succulent surrounded by daffodils. Various petals and flower heads are scattered across the sand. There is no implied meaning to this aside from any emotive connection that may be made by the viewer.

Prices are per size. Prints are printed in-house. They are posted flat, in A3 and A4 envelopes with cardboard stiffeners. A notice, ‘Do Not Bend’ is clearly visible on each envelope. Prints come unmounted and unframed. Narrow border is minimum 15mm, wide border is minimum 40mm. Handwritten signature of artist on each print. The signature will appear within the border area of the print so as to appear when mounted. Prints are sprayed with Gloss/Matt UV spray for increased longevity against light.
